AURORA, Colo. — The juvenile who was shot and killed by a mover during an attempted robbery on Friday night in Aurora was identified Tuesday.
Dewayne Lamonte Quenvell Brown, 15, died of two gunshot wounds and his death was classified as a homicide by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office.
The Aurora Police Department said three men were moving items into a unit in an apartment building in the 400 block of South Kalispell Way about 11 p.m. Friday when they were approached by three teenage males in the foyer who attempted to rob them at gunpoint.
“Two of the movers started to hand over their money,” Aurora Police Chief Nick Metz said. “The third mover who was fearing for his safety and the safety of his friends, pulled his weapon out.”
All three suspects were hit with gunfire. One was in serious condition and the second was in fair condition with nonlife-threatening injuries. Brown died en route to the hospital.
The other two suspects have not been identified and police said the three movers have cooperated in the investigation.

Before anyone who is not aware gets their nickers in a twist over this statement, I'll add clarification:
Homicide is a legal term for any killing of a human being by another human being. Homicide itself is not necessarily a crime–some homicides are legal, such as a justifiable killing of a suspect by the police or a killing in self-defense–but unlawful homicides are classified as crimes like murder and manslaughter.
The common law definition of murder is the unlawful killing of another human being with malice aforethought. Malice aforethought is the term of art that is sometimes colloquially referred to as "premeditation."
Doesn't Colorado have a law that allows murder charges to be levied against assailants when someone is killed in the commission of a crime? Hopefully the surviving scumbags will face those charges.

DA declines to press charges:

The shooter had a concealed to carry weapons permit and put the gun down when he saw officers arriving.Brauchler says Colorado’s self-defense law allows the use of deadly force.
“If you have a weapon on you and you are placed in imminent fear of serious bodily injury or death, you are entitled to defend yourself,” Brauchler said.
Brauchler noted it’s not a case of Make My Day because the shooting didn’t happen inside a residence.
“This is straight up regular common sense and statutorily codified self-defense,” he said.
I believe this is true.
A couple of guys I knew in high school were drunk one night and they wanted more booze. One broke into a house to get more and the homeowner confronted him. The guy beat the hell out of the homeowner with a frying pan and damn near killed him. Burglary, ADW and some other charges.
The other guy was waiting outside in the car and faced the same charges.
Lots of questions in the thread answered if you read the linked article I posted.
