Ikea is great if you want inexpensive furniture made out of compressed sawdust that will self destruct in five years, or when the first drop of water touches it. They do have some decent real-wood furniture if you look hard enough, but it is priced accordingly. Then they have plenty of stuff that sort of looks like quality furniture, until you notice every 12" or so of any given board is actually a finger-jointed glue up. And yet my wife loves that place, probably because she can get the furniture she wants now, instead of waiting seven months for me to finally get around to building, sanding, and finishing it. I do give them credit for inspiring me to take up woodworking again after the $99 dresser I bought in college exploded a year later.
