Since Beto pulled the mask off the party line of "we're not coming to take your guns", and none of the candidates spoke against it, they're not going to get much traction with this being "Trump's fault".
Yes the will. Dems called for new common sense gun laws, and trump and the repub Senate blocked it. Guaranteed they will show kids hiding or ducking at school and say the repubs and trump did nothing to protect your kids. We (the dems) have proposed "common sense" new laws, vote for us.

That's nothing new. There will always be the lefties that think the Dems have the answers no matter how stupid, useless, or damaging they are. Not a single thing that they've proposed as "common sense" would have done anything to stop any of the shootings to date.
Those that don't toe the party line are seeing something they really don't like, or trust. These are also the people that tip elections one way or the other.
