There are hundreds of registrars, godaddy just happens to be the biggest one. Which one is the best in light of these events, who knows, probably something smaller, maybe something not U.S. based. Then, you either have to pay for DNS server hosting or host your own (slightly more complicated to host your own) and you can host your own web servers off of any internet connection. DNS = the internets phone book. It says www.ar-15.co actually is http://54.209.36.119 <--- this websites REAL address.
Godaddy or some other entity placing a legal hold with godaddy is attempting to outright steal arfcoms domain. Not only did they fuck up their DNS, but they are locking up the registry to keep them from transferring it, so they don't have access to their chattel worth easily ~$250,000. Being that they have several other domains, I'm not sure why they aren't falling back into, it makes me believe that Godaddy has frozen their entire portfolio. This crap is insane, but it is something I did anticipate years ago, just a matter of time. It's also a big, big reason why it is unwise to discuss "grey" area stuff on public facing websites. If people want to discuss those kinds of things, do it in person.
Question: when I try to bypass DNS and just go to here via IP, I get a page that is all but blank except all cap “HERE”. So does the backend have a redirect to get to the actual forum? I’ve tried IP/forums and also IP/forums/subforum by copy/paste and swapping domain name for IP.
How long until sites like Bud's or Grabagun are shutdown for marketing illegal weapons or facilitating illegal sales?
