I saw that thread after I posted here. He is proud of it. Luckily, I live in a state where "preban" hasn't meant much for about 6yrs.

I can understand the apprehension when dealing with someone from out of state.
I have had the pleasure of dealing with folks all over the US (buying and selling guns, knives, computers, etc.) through forums and buy/sell sites. All I could add to the thread is not all out-of-towners are shady. It is pretty easy to do a little homework on the seller/potential buyer through their reputation. (I'm username: netsecsys for ebay, gunbroker, and several other forums). It is pretty clear weather they are a SH*TBIRD or not by their feedback. No rep, no business.
I have only one transaction here and I put my item on the line first for a trade (shipped my item to the other party for view before mine was shipped out). I only use USPS Priority Insured for outgoing (and demand it for incoming) along with USPS Money Orders for making and receiving payments (no personal checks or other money orders) as there is a little protection from mail fraud doing so. When I receive payment for an item, I use the Money Order received for the item to ship it to the buyer at the post office and get the change in cash so I don't have to deal with "waiting for it to clear at the bank". The post office will know if the MO is fake or stolen so I am not worried about shipping only to find out there is a problem with the payment.
I live in Washington State but hope to relocate to the Western Slope after graduating from college (my second attempt 15 years later). My main goal in joining CO-AR15 is meeting folks that I might be neighbors with in the future.
Again, we are not all shady ;)
Thanks.

nothing personal on you, I give absolutely no merit in the E-bay system.
Before the paypal thing just broke me to no end and became what it is, I had an ebay account.
When I Didn't receive an item as it was advertised and I left a negative feedback I was threatened, bullied and then banned from that retailer because I Would not "Just change it to a positive". Not that it mattered but someone with 100% positives just tells me either he is a great retailer or a great bully.
Sadly, there is no way to tell the difference.
I trust none of what I hear, none of what I read and only half of what I See.
I make skeptics look naive. :D
I can see your point.
I look at their feedback as a seller, as a buyer and left for others. You can tell if they are a bully or not... I think that when a majority of the feedback says: great comms, fast shipping and great to deal with, its a pretty good bet that they are not a SH*TBIRD (a majority of mine are purchases with feedback that says: fast payer and great comms). If I treat all who I deal with the way I want to be treated, I normally end up on the dry side of the bed ;) but I only have 185 feedback @100% on ebay so YMMV.
Thanks!

If I wanted to buy something out of state it would be through Gunbroker or an FLL in a private party sale.
But it would have to a great deal on something I can't get here in order to consider that route.
