Ever get in a fight with a guy only to become good friends later? Same thing here. I work with a number of people in England and when we meet in person it is friendly banter...Yankee this, red coat that...bad teeth and red neck jokes back and forth. Those guys are great. Their men in uniform fight alongside ours everyday. The past is the past.
