I don't think you guys remember how bad the firearms supply chain was in 2008/2009. I remember background check waits of hours, if not days, for a few months after the election. And that was IF you could find the gun you wanted.
Ammo sold out everywhere and supplies didn't stabilize truly for a couple years. Don't you remember we had daily updates in the Buyers Intel section just to tell each other if we saw some 9mm or 223 in stock somewhere?
When the ammo started selling out, then reloading supplies started selling out. You couldn't find primers or powder locally for a year. Even online supplies were limited.
Thankfully, I think the manufacturing capacity has been increased dramatically thanks to the major increase in $$ firearms manufactures have seen in the last 4 years. However, I do expect some panic buying to set in again.
Last time I thought it was silly and it pissed me off people were buying cases of primers as an investment. This time it may be justified.
Will we see another AWB? Yes, but not an outright ban. I think it will involve more taxes, licenses, more invasive background checks, medical records checks, no private party transfers, etc, etc. They will just make it awfully hard/expensive to be firearms owners. Then they can say "Hey, we didn't ban anything! You can still own them, but we just want to make sure you're SAFE."
Hmmm glock 33rd mag is going for $50 at glockstore. Wholesale is still the same.
For grins and giggles I looked up pmags on Midway to see if the price went up. It didn't however, they have a limit of 5 per customer.
I am guessing by a lot of the posts in this thread that most of you are too young to remember the first AWB. All of this talk about short term price increases and ammunition shortages are really no big deal compared to what could come.
