Broomfield's a unified city and county, and the sheriff is actually the chief of police.
In public, he probably thinks whatever the city manager thinks. That's how city police chiefs keep their jobs. In Broomfield, the CM probably thinks "I'm not going anywhere near this."

Wish we could hear something like this from Douglas County sheriff. Weaver finally did send out a letter on Friday, but this is the first I've heard from him. In the past I haven't paid that much attention to candidates for sheriff. But you can bet I will be thoroughly investigating the candidates from now on. We'll be getting a new sheriff in Douglas since Weaver is term limited. Would be great if we can elect someone who will take a stand like Justin Smith and Terry Maketa have. I love those guys!
