Personally, I'm moving to pretty much all striker-fired defensive pistols. Other than the 1911 that is. M&P all the way!
Springfield Armory has it figured out with their XD and Xdm pistols. I own 3 now, 2 .45's and a 9mm. My 9mm is a XDm 4.5" barrel, best shooting 9 I have ever owned!
Everyone else's gun is poop, so deal with it! Well except for my buddies HK's they are pretty bad ass!
I'm casting my vote for the 1911. You would think the price would come down after 100+ years. [Roll1]
:D
Let me attempt resuscitation by saying......XDm>yourpoopgun
The 5.7x28 only shoots a 31 grain bullet, dont think it will do that much damage. Dont get me wrong I dont like the gun either, my brother has one. I have the RIA 22 TCM it blows the fn out of the water. 2100 to 2300 fps with a 40 gr bullet, out of a 5 inch barrel. On a 1911 platform with 18 plus 1 it does not get any better than that. But anyway as far as the fn going through walls with a 31 gr bullet I dont see it happening, and realy its not that bad of a gun. I dont think it is $1000 worth of gun, but it is a decent gun. I have a pmr30 almost look the same, and I love my pmr.
I have the best gun. Because it is mine.[Coffee]
Unh uh, yours is poopier.

Mine is the bestest one ever invented.
Sorry BF76, anyone who has fired enough rounds through an XD has seen it clamp brass sideways so hard, you need a hammer & vise to dislodge, due to slide track/guide wear, ramp & spring wear(go to any rental range and ask). Bet ya never did that to your Kimber. Every sidearm (or firearm in general), polymer or not, must be inspected regularly for wear and weak spring(s). Most of us don't continue driving our cars when overdue for service, brakes go metal to metal, throw a belt,or drive on bald tires. The trick is to catch it BEFORE IT FAILS! Most of the idiots who trash talk certain firearms are the same assholes who buy a Camry or Accord and never service them, don't maintain them, and blow 'em up (then blog negatively about brand). Some are dis-pleased due to the firearms ergonomics (it just don't "feel" right). The rest (like me), grew up in an era of weak plastic junk toys from Hong Kong that broke removing from packaging. Sure, poly is not as rugged as steel or some alloys, and we still have another 30-50 years before seeing how it REALLY holds up long term. All that being said, there is no better piece of mind than a double stacked mag. in an ultra-reliable weapon (properly maintained) with ergonomics that FIT YOU(whether steel, alloy, poly, nylon, fiberglass filled and so on) and a good track record with real experts (which most of us are not,me included). If not, find the action you like best (revolver,auto.,SA,DA,SA/DA,DAO,safety features) on a frame that's ergonomics best fit the primary user, then shop aftermarket for customization potential to fit one's needs/wants best (if it isn't perfect for u out of the box). If poly was poop, then every manufacturer (except Magnum Research,I think) would not be using it.
By the way, mine is the bestest (because it fits me)!!!!!! And my trigger is not mushy either!
A G21 (.45acp) w/tritium nightsights I customized myself, including gettin' it all to work together. List of internal parts includes:
Ghost Rocket 3.5 connector (the 1 w/trigger stop that must be fitted).
Glockworx trigger spring.
Lonewolf Siderlock trigger (has safety slide-button).
LightningStrike titanium striker and safety plunger w/Wolff springs.
New Glock striker cups, guide and sleeve. New pins (I polished heads),trigger block, and extended slide release(polished).
Sprinco recoil reduction system (stainless guide rod w/2nd stage spring).
Action and trigger parts fully buffed/polished.
Externally:
Streamlight TLR2s.
Brook's tactical AGRIP.
Trimmed Pachmayer overgrip (underside of fingergrooves' recessed to fit frame's fingergrooves)and glued on w/removable adheisive.
Aluminum slide backplate w/punisher logo laser-etched into.
Trigger pull measures 3.2lbs.. Trigger reset about 1/12". Safe T Action ALWAYS RESETS without fail. Trigger pull smooth as silk. Able to put all 13 +P rounds on paper in 3 seconds. Built for s.d.,con. carry and competition in 1 ultra-reliable package. Just don't how much $$ in it while wife is around.
FYI: I walked in looking for an XD45(& also looked @ FNH,mult. 1911's, Magnum Research,S.W, and others)and came out with a stock Glock21. Like I said, find what ergos./action best fits you (I'm left handed, missing last inch of left thumb)and make it your own.[Bang]
"That 'oughta shut 'em up!
PS- neither the 1911, 92F, or Sig. withstood the 100' helicopter drop test. However, the poly Glock did.
Eat poop, until you're full of poop, then you spew nothing but poop, until you poop your last poop, at which time, one is buried with their poopy gun.
Aw shit!
I once shot a .50 BMG rifle at a small, single city phone book from 5 yards. The round stopped on the page that listed Chuck Norris.
have you ever wondered why every polymer gun is compared to glock? its cause glock is the best every other polymer gun maker puts a bunch of crap you dont need to try to make it look like they didnt copy glock. g21sf for life
I Still want one of those 150-250 yard sniper 1911s like Atrains...
that one cant be poop
[ROFL1]
You're poop. http://www.greaserlee.com/smilies/eekfinger.gif

Every gun I own is a POS. Still haven't gotten one to explode on me yet... Working on it- g19 and g21- both rusted out from salt and vinegar chip shooting hands and saline solution gun cleaner (mostly my spit on a rag with some home depot axle grease. several thousand of coated led handloads below and above recommended charge levels on brass so used the headstamps are beginning to iron out.
Guess guns reflect their owners...
