I did own a Spitfire 1500 and a TR6 in the old days, because they were cheap to buy and nobody wanted to deal with them once they started to break down.... They are fun to drive, albeit slow to accelerate, BUT can be dangerous when driven too fast.... The spit will give you absolutely no warning (ok maybe some wheel chatter) if you corner too fast before you hit the ditch... trust me on this one: This is how mine ended.Quote:

Yeah I don't imagine your frame snapping itself in half at 50mph is going to end very well. They seem to be somewhat available around here and decently cheap. I mean an old Porsche or an Alfa Romeo, or even a Bugeye Sprite would be even better but it doesn't seem like there's much to choose from when it comes to buying one of those around here. You should probably test drive one before you make that assessment. Also, 1) I assume you won't be leaving anything stock, and 2) better hope the old car had enough soul to over come being in the garage instead of on the street if things go South.
