Yep that was a great match, best match out there so far!!

I was also slain by the dragon... and by my inability to recognize no-shoots.
Oh well, next time!
AF shooters did really well. Best military handgun shooters I've ever seen.
Scores are posted: http://ecoidpa.weebly.com/uploads/2/...scoresheet.pdf
I really like how they highlighted the stage bests and notable mentions. Whomever does the scoring does a great job and is always mind blowingly quick about it.
When is the next classifier?
I'm thinking of trying my hand at designing a stage. Are bowling pins allowed on the range? I imagine they would be treated like steal.
If you want to follow the rule book, no, bowling pins aren't allowed. But it isn't a sanctioned match, so, for me, I say bring whatever you can to be fun. Some might disagree.
I have a dozen pins if the powers that be decide to make a match with them.
I have 17 pins myself just sitting around. I'm heading up to Cheyenne on Friday and was thinking about swinging over to get them if they could be used at a match.
On a more serious note, if anyone that designs stages is reading, I'd like to see a little more single hand/weak hand stuff, especially right before Classifier.
Bowling pins ricochet really bad that is what I would be cautious of.
Yeah, shooting at them with a .22 at even 50 yards and you don't really get any penetration.
Okay, sounds good to me. I'm sure I could just as easily recreate my idea with steal. Thanks for answering Mark.
I'm watching and listening....weak hand/strong hand it is!
Shooters,
It's that time of the month again for ECOIDPA.
Last range report was that it's a muddy mess, so we are going to watch the weather and make a call a day or two before the match. Forecast is also calling for 43 degrees and 20 mph winds which is never fun either. Unfortunately its also THAT time of year as well (nasty weather)
As always: If the match is cancelled it will be posted here, on the website as well as on the ECOIDPA facebook page.
Note some changes in the scheduling, make sure you don't miss out!
The new shooters meeting is pretty extensive to give the new IDPA shooters as much information as we can, so that's taking about 45 mins to cover. As a result we're bumping the new shooter meeting forward to 8:45am. New shooters please arrive prior to 8:30 for registration. Registration will close and the pre-match shooters meeting will be begin at 9:30am with the match start at 10am as normal. Below are the updated times that have been placed on the website.

ECOIDPA
Feb 22nd match cancelled.
Hate to do it, but forecast has changed again and none so far have been favorable. It's now chance of rain and 20-25mph winds which makes a day on the range not so fun.
We will see you next month, hopefully with better weather

Cancel and it's nice out...Colorado you take take your weather and shove it ......
So, is next Saturday the day? The 22nd?
I haven't fired a round in competition of any type in over 15 years. Maybe a bit longer. Thought I might come out and give it a go.
I did have a couple of questions since the last time I shot IDPA was in probably in 1998.
First, about how many rounds of ammo do I need to bring to get through the match?
Second, I don't like being too hot so, depending on the temps that day, would using some sort of a mesh type vest for a cover garment be acceptable?
Finally, would one of you be willing to loan me a couple of mag pouches suitable for Sig P229 magazines?
Thanks.
[Beer]
Yes its next Saturday the 22nd
I usually bring 200 rounds with and shoot just over 100
I dont know about the mesh covering for concealment so I will let someone else answer that but I'm assuming its probably okay.
Swing by Sportsmans Warehouse on 84th and grab a double mag carrier from Uncle Mikes, they had 3 of them when I was there Thursday and they are $19.99
Yeah mesh will be fine, just make sure it's long enough to "conceal" your gun.
For some stages you wont even need it.
I don't have any 226 mag pouches sorry.
Temp looks good for next weekend 59... wind looks like the suck though... 19mph. Hopefully that mellows!
With the 2013 rules change, it requires all stages to start as concealed unless otherwise stipulated. A cover garment that does not conceal would not be allowed as per the rules.
Just a reminder, CRC has a cold range policy, so you have to have magwell and chamber(s) empty until you are on the line under the control of the SO. That includes during set-up.
FYI, the mesh vest I speak of is a trap vest. It actually has shell pockets on the lower portion. I'll have to get it out and check but I bet it will actually conceal a weapon rather well.
I might just look a bit silly since most of you probably wear some sort of "photographer's vest" of some sort.
When I shot IDPA, I wore a Sweatshirt or a Windshirt, which is what I actually wear on an almost daily basis in the winter. You can find inexpensive, loose fitting short sleeved warm up covers with back and underarm vents (baseball) at the used sports stores for like $10.
If you have not shot out at CRC when the wind blows, you might want to toss a gun cover and sand goggles in your range bag. They became permanent additions to mine after my first sandstorm out there.
I've been shooting at CRC for four or five years now so I am well aware of the potential for wind and dust.
As far as cover garments, maybe for this coming event I'll toss on a large, button down denim shirt and wear it unbuttoned like a jacket. Seems the trap vest I intended on using probably isn't going to work out very well.
I always just leave my shirt untucked.
Got my pistol all tuned up and ready to go. Need to go through my range bag and make sure the holster is in there somewhere. Trying to decide if I want to hunt for my mag carriers or just buy new ones.
Yeah if forecast stays the same, we may cancel again, 20 mph winds forecasted so far, and even though I love shooting, that is no fun.
I forgot to mention that I run out of an in the waist band holster, so my untucked shirt method is likely not as effectice for owb holster users.
Hey all,
It's that time again for ECOIDPA at CRC, unfortunately its also taht time again for weather to be uncooperative. Forecast is saying 48 degrees, but with 25mph winds, which for a match is no good.
Going to wait to check forecast Friday and will make the call on the match then. Stay tuned, and we'll let you know ASAP.
Thanks
Kris
