The bolt is a hot scooter and good bang for the buck. There are guys [ vinnies chop shop] if he's still around that were doing some hot TT choppers off Honda and Yammie 6 & 750's. real sharp rides. Their Choppa's were clean units too. Lots of old school styling using hi performance low maintenance power plants.Quote:

+1 for the Road King. For the OP, if you want comfort, reliability, and utility at that price, a used BMW or newer Japanese bike is the best bet. I love my Harley, but they're frickin expensive to own (the bike is the cheap part). I converted from sport bikes (still have one and shopping for another) and love my HD. I'm partial to my bike because it's so comfortable. I can ride all day and not hurt. If your woman is anything like mine, you want her to be comfortable or she'll bitch all day and night and not want to ride (which negates the necessity of having bought a bike suitable for 2-up riding). Shop around and ride a few different models and you'll figure out what best suits your needs.

I've riddin a nightster, and it was an ok bike; almost picked one up a few months back.
I've since decided to change my focus a bit though. I've recently gotten the bug in wanting a sport tourer, so I'm looking at either a Yamaha FJR1300 or a Kawasaki Concours 1400 because I want to do longer rides, and I just love the way sport bikes perform.

I do want to pick up a little sporty to bob out though.
I love my VFR. It's pretty comfy for distance and some risers will put you more upright.

If you are wanting a Harley and settle for a metric cruiser because it "looks" like a Harley, you will probably be disappointed in the long run. They may look the part but they don't sound the part. Not a whole lot of aftermarket goodies for them either (except the Road Stars). And, as someone mentioned earlier, be prepared to take a huge depreciation I you buy new.
I was always a metric bike rider until I bought my first Harley. Now, there's no way I'd switch back.

Well that is a pretty damn good analogy. Both non sport bikes I have riden were harleys, fat bob and a 1200. I am going to go check out some different models of harleys this week and figure it out from there. I appreciate everyone chiming in
