I think you should read the immediate previous posts.

That being said, my question remains. How come they don't do enforcement action within other jurisdictions? I have seen regular local police do it.

Also, when I refer to criminal action I mean anything other than fare violations. Sorry for not pointing that out earlier.

The fare evasion article is two years old. When I left last year, it was entirely done by the transit security guys (G4S). DPD will occasionally do fare checks but the day to day responses are done by the security guys. We are dispatched to all calls for service or observed crimes or activity, but you have to realize tht we ride the trains just like everyone else. Usually local PD gets there sooner so that is why you see them responding. And as a side note, the RTD PD guys are pretty much investigators. They handle any assaults or theft or vadalism. And when someone gets hit by a bus or train. All calls Ive responded to.

So what is their actual jurisdiction? Just the train, train and platform, or all RTD property?

RTD property. Light rail stations and right of way, rolling stock . Also the bus terminals, stops and busses themselves. Some parking facilities. Even Union Terminal is ours.

Is it a news reporting flaw when they refer to DPD on the trains doing enforcement or is it something joint?

It can be joint. I know when I worked there they would do fare sweeps as PC for getting the druggies and such off the trains. It was usually DPD on an extra duty. We also had an On duty DPD car to effect arrests for us if we needed to. That being sinse the majority of the RTD network was in Denver propper.

Thanks for the info. There isn't a ton of stuff out there about RTD PD or operations.
