I'm running through wi-fi plus I have MagicJack phone service and I didn't notice any difference.
You should check your speed with something hardwired to rule out any WiFi or QoS issues affecting your results.
Read the posts to the thread about different types of modems because you may also be running an older modem which may not be capable of the faster speeds.
My test was wired using a Motorola SB 6120;
Model Name: SB6120
Vendor Name: Motorola
Firmware Name: SB_KOMODO-1.0.6.14-SCM01-NOSH
Boot Version: PSPU-Boot 1.0.0.4m1
Hardware Version: 3.0
Serial Number: REDACTED
Firmware Build Time: Mar 6 2014 15:23:55
Had problems early on with QoS and packet loss on Comcast's end, so that is disabled.

For those that haven't yet rebooted, try to run a speed test first and then reboot before running a 2nd one. Curious who all was able to get the speed increase without a reboot. Maybe some had rebooted recently enough to get whatever the newest firmware was needed to get these speeds once they flipped the proverbial switch. Dunno.
I did a reboot a couple of weeks ago and noticed that my SB 6120 took new firmware at that time. I rebooted this morning and didn't see another download. I did not perform a speed test before this morning's reboot because I knew what I was getting before any speed bump.
