Somebody broke into my house

Thanks Lars for the heads up, we live in Torrey peaks on the other side of 120th and I also showed my wife this thread. We have a security system on the way, changed a couple of worn out dead bolts, and decided to add a couple of security lights around our house. We have gotten complacent living in the burbs and needed a reminder that creeps are everywhere. Thanks for the wake up call.

One more reason to get the hell out of the front range. Nowhere is impervious to crime, but some acreage in the middle of nowhere, with a long drive would certainly be nice, I'm thinking something similar to Hbar...

The point is so many people think that crime doesn't happen in more remote areas but it does. Some say the frequency at which it occurs as compared to higher populated areas is lower... which is true but only part of the picture. There's also less people for the lower crime to be spread across so the likelihood of being the victim of crime living in a remote area isn't as low some might think. Just depends on which set of figures you look at.

That's not to say there aren't plenty of solid reason to not live in a city.

Either way, having a firearm on-hand that you're capable of using is a good idea. No such thing as a crime-free area.

Make sure the alarm company you choose notifies you as well when an alarm is received. Police departments can be slow on the response. I only work a few minutes from home. If the cops are not lto greet them I an my Glock 29 will be there as well.


As for a security system , a camera is great. You dont need glass break detection. Go with PIR motion detectors in all rooms with exterior windows and doors. Door contacts on all doors. Make sure the system can define movement and where the pricks are moving. Insure your cell phone is compatible and can receive real time info.that to you including footage.Signage is a good deterrent. Many security companies offer a package, most of the time that package is s rip off.

You must have missed the part where I said nowhere is impervious to crime.

I grew up in a really small town, and know quite a few people living 30 plus miles from civilization, and not one of them has been victimized. I can't say the same for folks I know living in the metro area. The firearm thing, I've got that covered.
