I can't believe this was a serous question.
I just pull out the whole holster, turn around and ask the guy standing next to me "can you hold this for me?".
Kinda odd, but they usually won't even look at me. Then I just say "I just don't want it to go off if I drop it.".
After much consideration I have decided the zipper option is not valid at all. How on earth do you risk this type of personal injury?
I've only ever heard of kids undoing their belts to take a leak. No offense intended. This issue is just new to me.
I don't see a solution to the problem other than to stay buckled.
