Dick's is again using tragedy for marketing attention. You have to respect the pattern. It's disgusting. They've got the MSM running with the drama that Dick's will know tomorrow how it's last change in selling guns has affected their bottom line and whether they will pull out of firearms entirely.
I think they already know the numbers and they'll come out tomorrow and state that firearms don't make up any significant sales for them. Anybody that cares about 2A is already avoiding them. Then hopefully they'll exit the firearms market entirely. That doesn't mean that they won't speak up anymore after the next nut uses a gun. I could totally see them virtue signalling/speaking up that it wasn't them and that they're part of the solution.
Dick's should just change their name to Richard's to avoid confusing anyone.

Maybe analyst did not factor in the increase in price index indicies as properly?

Maybe it happened, but I don't remember a single retailer destroying compact florescent light bulbs once people decided they were bad for the environment, which effects everyone (and bad for lighting). Think stores in New York publicly destroyed large drink cups?
If guns are so bad, it's not a secret and people are just finding out (like black market THC vaping that has killed a few people, but they are still blaming Juul). They've always been bad and the decades of selling them should weigh much more heavily than the comparative handful that were destroyed. Politics; nearly always dumb and unhelpful.

As to the vaping deaths, it's being reported that many could be related to THC products, but some are not. This is one of the things that makes me skeptical about new fads. We have many hundreds of years worth of experience with tobacco and a good understanding of the issues around it. Then this new thing comes along that creates much smaller particles that go deeper into lung tissue using god knows what ingredients and it's deemed as "safer" without much in the way of evidence.
I hope that Dick's fully exits the firearms business and is no longer able to use every shooting as an anti-gun marketing push.
From what I understand about the vaping thing, is that ALL cases were related to THC products where the oil was not properly made (black market) and has nothing at all to do with tobacco. We should probably start a thread about it, but it's not like this one is going anywhere either.
