Even though it would negatively affect (at least temporarily) every person in the country, I'd like to see every single private health insurance company just pull completely out of the market and non-renew all policies when they expire and not sell any new ones. Just say "Fuck you, we're out!" Is the government going to FORCE someone to start a company then? You can't regulate shit if no one is willing to do business.
I know that in reality the government (and the people) would just panic and throw together some nightmare government program together over night. I'm just really frustrated about this meddling in private business. You know all those signs in every store in the country that say "We have the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason" ? It's like the government just came in and tore the sign down. When a business loses the right to refuse service to people, it might as well no longer be privately owned. /rant.

Wrong, Car insurance is not federally mandated, each state has separate laws regarding it. Also you are not forced to buy car insurance, only people who CHOOSE to drive vehicles are required to have it, not even single person weather they want it or not.

(BTW: Those are references to Ayn Rand's novel Atlas Shrugged in which the character John Galt did just what you are suggesting to bring down the liberal and corrupt government as well as to change the way people think. They get away with all of this crap because we allow them to. As long as we continue to be a part of the system - even if we do it begrudgingly - we continue to sanction their behavior.)
