Yep, Europeans are typically much more courteous on the roadways...they also have more stringent driver training. They don't give a license to every idiot that thinks they can drive...they make them prove it.

Guy, I was informed by a representative of the Colorado State Patrol that you had been contacted in regard to your questions about traffic problems across the metro area. I hope your issue has been resolved. Feel free to contact me at any time.

I am talking about giving the law itself more teeth. the troopers we have are fine. if the penalties were higher for this infraction I think more people would follow the law, officers would write more tickets for it as it would generate more revenue.

Legislation has been passed in this regard. Unfortunately, with recession we are unable to hire more State Troopers to ensure enforcement. The state's revenue shortfalls are definitely the cause of much grief for Colorado residents.

Senator,
Being a Highway commuter(Thornton-Peterson AFB) I often see allot of people disregarding/in blatant violation of CRS 42-4-1013.
A person shall not drive a motor vehicle in the passing lane of a highway if the speed limit is sixty-five miles per hour or more unless such person is passing other motor vehicles that are in a nonpassing lane or turning left, or unless the volume of traffic does not permit the motor vehicle to safely merge into a nonpassing lane.
This often causes backups for miles, people attempting to pass on the right and I see our highway patrol officers doing nothing. I often wonder if we could get more "teeth" on this law if it would help the officers and the people of Colorado.
I am sure if the law had a sharper penalty to it more people would see it worth following and safety would be increased on our highways.
you attention is always appreciated,
Thank you,
Byte Stryke
Essentially I got the same thing everyone in Colorado is getting righ now
allot of hot air and allot of smoke....
too soon?
never stop believing you can make a difference. and PLEASE Keep barking at them. The squeaky wheel either gets grease or it gets replaced. ;)
I know that the "stay right unless to pass" signs are generally ignored, but DO NOT IGNORE the one on the way to Black Hawk up HWY 6.
There is one in particular, the second one up from Golden, that the CSP cheese likes to monitor and dole out $ generating tickets. I know a few folks who have gotten tix for this - simply driving in the left lane with nobody to pass, just driving. Just an excuse for a $ generating ticket. We wonder why some of us don"t trust them...
If you see one of the "stay right except to pass" signs in Clear Creek Canyon, don't do it at your risk of giving the co.gov more $$.do
Driving back up after seeing a movie last night from Denver West and I-70 to Evergreen Parkway, there were several cars behind me (with very light traffic) camped out in the left lane the entire way up the hill... I think enforcement is a very small part of the problem, but like stated before, stupid people and their stupid habits. Sometimes I think if I was a cop I would take it upon myself to write tickets for people being stupid (not literally, just saying when stupid people show off their stupidity and break the law, like the one in this topic) and hopefully aid them in changing their bad habits. When a habit gets to be too expensive you eventually force yourself to lose it. [Beer]
Police really should enforce more of those "idiot" laws. Another good one is people on bikes who completely disregard the rules of the road when they're riding, get this, IN THE ROAD.
Some moron today rolled through a red light then just carried on like she's not subject to the same rules as cars. That shit really grinds my gears because it causes people to hate cyclists and makes me worry that I'll be the victim of road rage next time I'm riding because some other cyclist pissed off the driver of an SUV.
I think you'd be better off printing a few hundred and posting them around Wyoming. (those who drive the I25 corridor will understand)
I had to drive to Breckenridge for a delivery today. I counted somewhere between 8-10 times going up the mountain, and back down, when semis using the left lane took the speed limit from 65 down to 35.
And how about the semi who literally STOPPED halfway in the left hand lane/half way on the left hand shoulder to jump out and check his tarp. 65 to 25 in about 7 seconds... I still can't believe he didn't cause an accident.
And not to mention all of the other chuckle heads going 50 in the left lane.
Ronin, I'm with you. This is a RIDICULOUS problem. One that CAUSES a heck of a lot more accidents than speeding does.
