that looks like a great set up. do you have to have an Iphone to have that type of remote monitoring/control of the system?

Damn glad she's okay. As you mentioned, you never know when "it" is going to rear "it's" ugly head in your world. The other day my wife came home and found the screen removed from our kitchen window (on the outside). I'm guessing my 80 lb German Shepherd/Aussie mix convinced the person(s) to go elsewhere. I replaced the screen, keep the window locked now. My schedule recently changed, so now I'm home during the day. I am taking closer note to who is walking around my neighborhood and those who are driving by at an unusually slow pace. It sucks because my house backs up to an alley, so scrappers are always driving up & down the alleys. I gave Englewood PD the courtesy of letting them know my wife discovered. They stated there had been several home burglaries in the area as of late. Probably only a matter of time before some intruder makes the wrong call and enters a house that is occupied by an armed home owner.
About a month ago someone got into my car parked in the driveway. They rifled through everything, but only took a set spare of keys (house and car). I've changed locks.. After talking to the neighbors about it, a house up the street was broken into while the wife was in the shower. She came out and found someone in her master bedroom. She yelled and they took off...it could have been much worse
Since then, I've had an uneasy feeling. On Tuesday I have an alarm company coming in to update my system. We haven't used it since we moved in, and was unsure it even worked. Putting the usual stuff plus motion in the garages, and 3 cameras (facing front door, back of house, and one interior that covers about 1/2 the 1st floor) that can be watched from anywhere in teh world.
I'm just having a "gut feeling" lately
Wow i didn't know there were that many questions about this setup.
No, the app is separate from the alarm/automation system. The app is $50 on iTunes, and the have an android version as well. Monitoring is totally separate, you don't need monitoring at all, it can send you a txt for everything. i.e. when system is armed, garage door is left over after system is armed, temp in the house gets too cold/hot, etc.
The alarm/automation system is ElkM1Gold.
My guy's name is Jason his contact info is 720-335-5983 (google voice).
ADT/Brinks will nickel and dime you for everything! You want no landline... +$5, you want to control it with your iPhone +5%, etc. They charge a lot for monitoring because they have staff that will roll out to fix your stuff if it goes bad. Jason can cut that cost by doing a quality install, and monitoring will be WAY lower. Same response time. Not to mention that i spent $1k when i bought the house, and when i cancelled with Brinks they wanted the equipment back. So i just paid for labor... BS!
