If you were standing next to me while I shot with this muzzle break on, it wouldn't be fun. I took some 340fps video of the kx3, the muzzle break, and no muzzle device to compare. If its interesting I might try to edit and post the videos. It would have been a lot cooler at night, but I digress.

I'm probably going to call in about a month to see if the stamp has gone to "pending." I'm going to check everything over for any signs of stress or wear, give it a light cleaning, then put it in the safe until my stamp comes. All this thinking about it is making me craaaaazy!

I'd be interested in how you feel it performs with a standard flash hider. The two things that the Noveske flash hider do in addition to hiding flash are give you a little more back pressure and a little longer dwell. Not a lot of barrel after the gas block on a 7.5", so every little bit helps. I do have to say that I think your SBR looks pretty cool with the short handguard and the KX3. My biggest complaint about the VTAC handguard us that I have had to re-torque the collar screws several times.

Thanks Johnny! I'm loving the look of the KX3 inside the handguard. The KX3 kind of looks like a suppressor from the side, and I much prefer that look over the little skinny muzzle break sticking an inch out the end...

After 120 rounds, everything seemed nice and tight still. I am very leery of overtightening things, so I tend to undertighten everything for fear of breaking it (this had led to several scopes jiggling loose while shooting [Bang]), but those collar screws on mine came with locktite on them and were still quite snug.

Side note: After rapid firing about 30rds with the KX3, the KX3 was HOT and the handguard was getting uncomfortably warm.

I've heard from a lot of people that a 7.5" SBR can be really tricky to perfect, but mine seems to function perfectly with no tweaking. It has a standard recoil spring and buffer and works fine. Brass is ejecting a little bit forward, mostly between 2-3 o'clock, and it is a little erratic, but that doesn't bother me. Would an H-2 buffer fix the forward eject?

Run 500 + - through it before making any changes. You don't seem to be having any issues at the moment, why put something else in to the equation.

I agree with Jim. These things are fiddley enough that I wouldn't go 'fixing it' until you know that it is broken.

That forearm will get very hot under moderately sustained rates of fire. That is one of the reasons I wear gloves when shooting:

My thoughts exactly. The barrel had about 500 rds on it when I picked it up from the dreaded armslist but it looks perfectly fine to me. I have a history of "fixing" things that weren't broken. I think I've moved past that, but I've heard some internet ninjas say that ejecting forward of 3 o'clock is bad. I asked because I knew Jim would stop me from doing something stupid.

Nice action shot! Some good shooting gloves might be a wise investment. I think ultimately this 7.5" SBR will be a great home defense rifle with such a short OAL. It certainly won't be my only SBR!

Just talked to a nice, informative lady with the BATFE. I had a form go pending Sept 4, (check cashed on Aug 28th). I was told 6 months from the pending date, just can't figure out if this is good or bad anymore.

As far as I can tell, it's still a good average with about a 1 month sigma.

But... There's not a lot of information about our examiner's turnaround, and some are faster and slower than others, so our mileage may vary.
