If/when the "assault weapon" ban is in effect here in CO, it will be illegal for an out of State FFL dealer to sell such a proclaimed "assault" firearm (and only a long gun at that) to the resident of CO - since that firearm is banned in CO. Sorry but the FFL dealer HAS to make certain first that the firearm is legal in the CO residents home State. This is why FFL dealers are furnished with an ATF issued book containing various State laws that the dealers must be familiar with and comply with. Sad but true.

I can speak to separate incidents of BATFE spying - one on gun boards, one at the Tanner gun show and several at the Colorado MG shoots Bob McBride used to put on. You also should be aware that a common tactic is to entrap someone in a technical violation of the law and then flip them to be a CI to stay out of jail. The Ruby Ridge tragedy started exactly in this manner. Agents that remember their oath, that object to unlawful entrapment, perjury on wiretap warrants, etc., get run out of the agency. Go take a browse on CleanUpATF.org to see how corrupted this agency has become. Research the saga of Vincent Cefalu, one of the last old school agents that had a sense of respect for the Constitution he swore to uphold.

My brother is a career law enforcement official that has worked with several federal agencies up to and including the SS-PPD. He has told me many times that the BATFE is widely viewed as the bottom rung of federal law enforcement.

I have no doubt that the first few gun shows in Cheyenne will hav somebody taking CO plate numbers and forwarding them to CSP over the boarder.

Yeah, and the ATF would never actually let their undercover agents actually sell guns to Mexican cartels illegally....
