I saw Green Zone today. I'd like to hear from the military people (and people in general) about it. Did it make you angry? Seemed kind of like a liberal media circle jerk movie; I still liked it though.
It was alright, I suppose. But Matt Damon is Jason Bourne so I just kept seeing Jason Bourne. Liberal media circle jerk? I don't know. Obviously the media is controlled by liberal corporations and there's only one plucky minority channel that's hardly watched by anyone and hardly has any influence telling the TRUTH but hasn't the post-invasion handling of Iraq been a bit of a clusterfuck by most standards? I saw it in the cinema so it's been a while, maybe I'm not remembering the preachy bits that you noticed.
I watched Unthinkable last night. Pretty thought provoking movie if you're not a 'rah-rah torture is cool' kind of person. There was one point where the movie was almost ruined completely but they managed to reel it back for a pretty chilling finale. Michael Sheen is a great actor, Samuel L Jackson hasn't been any good for years - casting him detracted from the story in my opinion.
Well it all depends on what people thought of the WMD situation I guess. I wasn't there and don't really know what went on. I was thinking of a way to better explain what I mean, but I can't verbalize it right now. I wasn't saying that the movie was preachy, just that it suggested that the WMD intelligence was fabricated. Of course there was all kinds of talk about that in the news and on the net, but there is also lots of talk about whether or not the US government knew about 9/11 before it happened. It might have been lazy of me, but I kind of tossed both those conversations into the same box and stopped thinking about them. I'm still not sure if I'm being very clear.

here's an interesting write up on Inception.
don't click until after you've seen the film, as it contains spoilers.

and here's something else, highlight below for spoilers:
I've read online that at the end of the credits, you can hear the sound of the top falling over.
I watched Unthinkable recently as well and found it to be quite repetitive. Guy does what she doesn't like, "Don't worry about it just do your job", guy does something she doesn't like, "Don't worry just do your job", etc, etc.
lol inception ripped off scrooge mcduck

I'm watching The Ghost and Mr. Chicken. It is a 1966 film with Don Knotts. We had it on VHS (or Beta) up at my family cabin and watched it as kids. Thought I'd check it out as an adult.

Campy, Corny, blatantly out of reality.
Zombie Hookers, Cowboys, Indian Women in Skimpy outfits...
add all of that to a late night and you have yourself some A Rated entertainment!
did I mention Zombies?
Here is a clip from The Ghost and Mr. Chicken. I don't know about you guys, but I'm sure I've given a book report or something else in front of the class back in the day that sounded something like this.

Zombies, you say. How about Dead Alive, its a peter jackson film from the early 90s so awful its wonderful. "your mother ate my dog!" classic.
Even better Movie, Stalag 17. Good old movie.
[quote=StagLefty;211103]I don't know exactly why but the most recent I saw that I enjoyed was
"Book of Eli" [Beer]I enjoyed it too; especially about the two scenes of the four legged cats.Because I was almost banned from a private gun range, for trying to get the gun range's pet "wild cat"rabies shots;last fall. They finally caved in to my request six month's later.[Beer]
punks with more money than good sense. yet, still fun to watch.

Watched "She's Out of My League" the other day. I thought it was pretty funny; especially all the scenes with the main character's family.

not enough snakes.
Toy Story 3 -
Took my kids to see it and it was a great film....
except for one scene that had little kids all over the theater crying with fright.
I wouldn't recommend it for any kids younger than 7 or 9-
Is it more creepy than Coraline?
From the people that brought you The "Lost Skeleton Of Cadavera", two new tales of terror... [Muaha]

If you like Mystery Science Theater , these will be right up your alley.
Watched "Kick Ass" last night. I haven't laughed like that in a long time. The 12 year old kickin' mob ass was priceless.
Saw the Expendables this weekend... much fun, I actually laughed out loud during a scene with an AA12 Shotgun cutting massive swaths through hoards of bad guys.
Great shoot em' up flick and Jet Li is absolutely hillarious, smallest guy in the cast and they play great fun with it.
This enough snakes for ya?
Rattlers
It's great to see that stupid thriller movies haven't gotten any better over the years.
Just saw a trailer for a re-release of Avatar in the theaters...It'll give me a chance to not go see it again :D
Just watched The Losers. An excellent example of a summer action movie.
Super predictable plot with plenty of holes. Ridiculous shooting sequences. Mediocre one-liners. All that being said, it was still mostly enjoyable to watch. I expect that is pretty much how The Expendables will be.
It's not. It's worse. Not that I was expecting much.
Of the 'big three' that I just decided upon, I would rank them:
1. The Losers
2. The A-Team
3. The Expendables.
Sylvester Stallone, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Mickey Rourke and Arnold Schwarzenegger in one movie? That's a perfect recipe for the dialogue being mummernummer nummer nummer.
Hmmm, even though I fully anticipated The Expendables being crappy, I still wanted to see it. I never wanted to see The A-Team. Oh well.
Shifting gears, has anyone seen The Crazies? I expected it to be worse than Zombieland. Is that about how it was?
I liked Zombieland and the Crazies. Zombieland was closer to being 'a classic' whereas Crazies was just an enjoyable waste of a couple of hours, but sometimes that's all you need.
Thanks, I'll look into it. I expected Zombieland to be much worse than it actually was.
I watched KICK ASS just because of what I read here. That movie is funny as hell. [ROFL1]
So I watched Hot Tub Time Machine last weekend, and She's Out of My League a few days before. I thought both were pretty good, but laughed a lot harder at the 'funny parts' in She's Out of My League. I found Hot Tub Time Machine to be more endearing than anything, even though I don't really remember most of the 80's.
Zombieland was freakin' hilarious! Even my wife was laughing at Woody's lines. He had some great quotes.
