My prayers go out for all of the innocent children involved in this, and honestly it's had me seeing red all day.
One thing that I've already done was to contact the administrators at my daughter's elementary school and arranged to set up a meeting to discuss assessing and enhancing their defensive/response capabilities, as I've noted numerous deficiencies while dropping off/picking up and attending school events. Hopefully more people will demand the same from their school administrators and this will get some real traction. But the cost....horrible.
This can happen anywhere, and the current level of exposure at most schools, including our, sickens me....

I am not a video game guy, dont bother with them in general. HOWEVER those blaming games for things are frankly taking a silly left wing stance on this. Blaming things and not people is why we are left to fight for something we should never have to, our god given right to defend ourselves by whatever means necessary affirmed for us by our founding fathers.
I have to wonder what the rampant over medication of our kids is doing. Adderal, ritalin, antidepressants... all being prescribed like M&Ms to children that are still developing their brains. I have to agree somewhat with the video game angle. If you've ever put 500 hours into one of the FPS games (Battlefield, Call of Duty, etc) over a short period of time it starts to become part of your everyday life (seeing people in the shadows, tanks and helicopters in the distance). As an adult I know they're just games but as an adolescent I'm not sure it's as easy to separate real life from fiction.
Sure maybe I shouldn't have played 10 hours a day for 2 months but I know a lot of people who play a lot more than that.

I've probably killed enough characters to wipe this planet clean of life.
And yet I've never had an issue discerning reality from video games. Many of the hours listed are approximations as the games were not tracking my time.
That's a little over 3000 hours of games where I shoot people in the face.
Ridge- it appears to me that you have a problem. How much money could you have made -somehow-, by using that time more to your advantage? You're also an adult, not a 15 or so year old.
The time is accumulated over almost 10 years of FPS gaming. It's always been a way to relax after a stressful time. You have a hard week, you're feeling down. Sometimes it's nice to be able to take your anger out on an avatar of some guy 1000 miles away. You get to focus your rage on someone, release it on to them, and then the server loads a new map and the only thing that has changed is you are calmer.Quote:

They did a study which I can't find right now but apparently it's something that's considered in fighter pilot selection now a days. People who played a lot of action / fps video games in their youth are a lot more adept at operating jets because their minds are already used to making quick decisions and assessing situations. Moral of the story being "conditioned" by a video game upped the mental aptitude of these individuals.
