I propose a 100 meter footrace between Jer and Blacklabel. Loser goes on an immediate 10 day juice diet. I expect UFC style weigh-in photos.
As always, two shoes is late to the party, but I just found this thread.
I had a pretty fooked summer, spent most of it taking care of my mom in SoCal. I went from 229 to 243 from June to Aug. I have felt like shit. Now @ 243 (Sunday morning) doesn't sound like huge numbers but I'm only 5'8". A few years ago I was at 273. I started the Couch 2 5k program. It took 5 months to complete the 8 weeks program, but I had ran 2 5ks and was at 212 at the end of 2010. I decided to take a week off of running, as I deserved a break... or so I thought. Fast forward 3 years and here I am. Have tried a few times to get back to it but gout and/or injury have slowed me down to a crawl.
This past Sunday, I decided that I was going to try to juice for at least 5 days. Monday was the first day. Of course the wife makes chicken pot pie, chicken & dumplings and Ghirardelli chocolate brownies... I am cranky at best.
Tuesday everything is frustrating, work, kids I am ready to try to juice cheese and feel like I must be ovulating. (emotions out of check, irritable and irrational thoughts) WTF?
I'm on day 3 now and it still kind of sucks... but I will be purchasing the ingredients for the V8 juice. I love me some bloody marys... LOVE THEM!! So this may be my "comfort" juice to get me through.
Here are some recipes from Joe Cross' 5 day reboot: http://www.rebootwithjoe.com/wp-cont...ayplan0626.pdf
Favorite so far is this one:
Peach (or Pear) Pie Delight1 sweet potato
2 ripe peaches, pitted (or pears if peaches
are not in season)
1 red apple
1 handful of blueberries
Dash of cinnamon
I'll get on the scale tomorrow am for an update... My goal is to get to 200 by Christmas and then 180 by April of next year. Now a goal without a plan is just a wish, so I am going to juice for a while (undetermined at this point, at least 5 days), then start the C25k again or something like it. I'll take it slow, like before but this time I will go directly to a 10k program.
You guys are pretty inspirational!
