Been getting in a lot of hikes this week. This photo is from a couple of days ago to one of my favorite "secret" spots where hardly anyone goes and it's very serene-great to forget about the troubles in the world or my life. Ziva is a wonderful hiking companion though we do go a little slower as she's aged (10 now) and has mild hip issues.

Thanks! She's a rescue from the Denver Dumb Friends League 9 years ago. They got her from a shelter near the Springs. Didn't know much about her but she was house broken and had most of the basic commands down. During my initial meeting with her she spent about 4 minutes sniffing around the visitation room then came over and put her head on my lap-done deal LOL. When I brought her home she adapted to us immediately.
She's always been partial to women before men though once she knows someone is cool she likes everybody. A great watchdog, very protective of the home, me, all family members and especially the grandkids. The little ones can lay on her, hug her, whatever they want, she likes to be near them whenever they visit.

Was over at a friend's house last night. His German shepherd found the first skunk we have ever seen over there. Joy

You know the saying about 'curiosity killed the cat'? I have to believe that German Shepherds are just more durable.

And bigger.
She just keeps growing. Not much taller but longer and heavier. Tipped the scales just over 127lbs.

Our boy is a long, lean and muscular 80lbs. He's also amazingly quick.
...and not too bright when it comes to chasing bees and wasps. He ended up with a swollen tongue yesterday. Didn't deter him one bit.
