Heading to the range today to test the second batch of reloads (in Lapua brass) in my Rem7005R. Hoping I don't have any problems with primers blowing out.
But, while getting ready for the range, I decided to clean/lube the barrel real quick (just a few passes) since its been several months since I got out last. When I reinserted the bolt, then cycled the action to make sure all was good, the bolt just pulled right out. The bolt stop on the Timney 510 trigger (brand new, unfired even) was stuck in the released position. Had to take the stock off to see that it was slipping off the groove in the bolt stop lever. Will be contacting Timney once I get home from the range, but it appears to be workable as long as I only barely press the bolt stop release lever, it doesn't stick.
Sigh, wondering if someone put a hex on this rifle. [Dunno]
BC: I feel really bad about this, as I had something to do with your selection.
Don't feel bad, I'm highly convinced now it was the brass. Shot all of my test loads and not a single problem. Went up to 42.8gr IMR4064 and didn't have a single problem. No sticky bolt. No ejector mark. No high pressure signs. Just pure, clean, fun shooting. Have to decide between my 41.6gr and 42.0gr loads, they produced the tightest groups and the most consistent velocities. Need to calculate SD but I might do a load up between those in 0.1gr increments, depending if I have time over the next week or two.
You wearing yoga britches behind that sign?
Wish I were, would have been more comfortable than the too large shorts I was wearing.
