I'm all for giving Maketa an opportunity to explain himself. But at a minimum this casts serious doubts about his integrity, judgment and leadership abilities.

Long time ago I ran those mail servers, the SO uses county email and at the time we kept only 30 days backup to reduce the FOIA search scopes. We did not purge from boxes nor did we limit pat files so a user could keep everything for ever if they wanted and it would be discoverable. I don't think any employment contracts would play in except to speak of acceptable use. Systems do not below to shr office.

He's not the first law enforcement officer whose career went down the toilet courtesy of the 3 B's (Booze, Bills & Brauds). If you get your life sideways with one or more of those, it can sink you like the Titanic.

Doesn't really say much; what is he apologizing for? Is this an admission of guilt?

I'd say so. He basically said he engaged in inappropriate behavior and when confronted about it, he lied.

He looks and sounds strange. Like he's under duress. Or like he just got figuratively kicked in the balls.

I can't get the damn video to play. But from what I've read of the transcripts he's admitted to inappropriate behavior and lying about it. It's a shame...he had a bright future.

He's not married right?
