How early should I renew?

Quick question for a friend who moved to Denver from Florida... he has his concealed permit from there (with a current valid issued card) & wanted to know if there is a resource when he can look up the rules to transfer/renew & if it is even transferable between these two states. Seems he inquired a couple of places, Blucore & others & no one could answer his questions. If you all know, id appreciate a link, please.

Apologies if there is already a post that would answer my q - I must have missed it.

Once he's a resident here, his Florida card no longer works. I believe he has to jump through all the same hoops as first time people do.

I believe Irving is correct. Has your friend checked the county sherrif"s website?

I got my permit in Jeffco, where I lease property for my business, rather than Adams(where I live), due to the wacky scheduling that Adams put in place for permit applications. I don't know if you might have the same option available.

Looks like the whole pandemic thing threw me off my game.

My permit expires in early July.

Went online to make my appointment to renew and the earliest available date was in late June. Looks like I?ll miss the expiration date by a few weeks.

At least from what I can tell it will just cost me a little extra. If it goes over by 180 days then I?d basically have to start over.

Among other factors, Colorado doesn't honor non-resident permits. Even if you have reciprocity with another state, if you're no longer a resident of that other state, CO will not honor the permit. That said, whatever training (if any) he completed to obtain his FL permit MAY be valid here, if it was completed inside of the last ten years and he still has a certificate. CO simply requires a safety course, it isn't overly specific about it.

The regs are very unspecific. The course over at Guns for Everyone explains that.

Washington state passed a requirement that anyone buying a semi-auto rifle has to complete safety training and get a certificate. They were so unspecific that you can take an online course that's a few minutes long and print your own cert.
