Oh, BTW it looks like the Filibuster was broken.
I have an interview today. I maybe off this gravy train of unemployment soon. But the last job that had was seasonal and part time. Its not as easy to find a full time job as you'd think. Wal-Mart and other Mcjobs are a waste of time period. If they paid enough to live on I would be all over it like I am with UPS. Its not about who pays the most either. Its about who pays enough. My last job while part time and low pay was fun although I had to deal with dipshits like a race baiting latino who started every conversation with I'm the store manager. Or the little dick ginger guy that didn't know shit about cars but was good at abusing his power. And when confronted about it would CALL THE POLICE for protection. No matter how you brought it to his attention. All that for minimum wage count me in just to get off unemployment. But it wasn't paying the bills sorry.
Yeah, getting a job that pays less than unemployment is unacceptable. Fortunately it hasn't gotten bad enough for me to take a job that pays me less than what I owe in bills every month, but then again, I haven't been unemployed for very long. Also fortunately, the job market in my industry is really picking up again.
i was pretty confident i could get a job too, until i couldn't, the job market is booming when you have one. i cashed in my 401k and lived off of that before i even started collecting unemployment. i dont want the extension at all, but if it means i can guarantee that my kid will eat when there is no guarantee i will land a job, ill take it.
as far as not taking a low paying job, i (and im sure most in this thread) will take anything i can get if it will cover my rent and feed my family, fast food/minimum wage i may as well move into my fucking car, or better yet section 8 housing, where does that money come from?
i have cut my expenses down to nothing. have those of you here complaining that the available jobs dont "pay enough" done so.
i dont buy beer, i dont go to town unless i have to. i dont eat fast food, i dont go out for dinner, i buy generic everything, i sold my old truck, i have sold several guns, i have sold all the extra brass i can part with, i dig lead out of the range and melt it down to sell, i have sold more stuff on ebay than i can remember.
if you are really broke, just trying to feed your family, do you still shoot? do you still have cable tv, wireless internet, cell phone? people make choices, but have gotten to a point in this country where not only do you need enough money to "feed" your family, but you feel you are entitled to survive AND have tv, cell phone, beer, fast food, hobbies, etc... try eliminating everything that you dont NEED to survive and you will be surprised at how little you really need.
i have no doubt that there are people out there that cant make ends meet, but i think most people are not there yet. with this president and congress you will need to make changes now as it is only going to get worse in the next 6 to 9 months.
And for those of us that are looking the reality is that it's an Employer's market. The wages that are being offered for the same jobs of a few years ago is almost criminal. None of my monthly bills have decreased but the wages sure have. When I saw what was coming I cashed in insurance dividends and paid of all car loans and any outstanding balances. When I say monthly bills I mean just what makes my household run. I'll make it all work somehow but please don't tell me about how many jobs are out there when you have no idea what's going on. Rant off-[Beer]
Just saw your new post-I don't have fast speed,no cell, cut back on groceries wants, etc. But I've also found time to help out church programs to help people that are worse of than myself. The only reason I mention that is because I'm not laying around cashing my unemployment checks. I'm trying to stay positive no matter how bad I think it is.
I feel for those out of work, I know it's tough on families especially. I'm a hard working guy but find myself posting up on Craigslist pretty regularly for jobs around the house that I normally do myself (mowing, yardwork, that kind of stuff) just simply because there are so many folks down on their luck. I've been fortunate to find some great people who are hard workers come and take me up on my offer. Craigslist is a turkey shoot, I'll post an ad like "$40 to mow my lawn and pick some weeds", get about 200 replies and only about 15 people who will actually show up for two hours of work.
