It's the catch & release. The ladies have the right bait to lure them in close, before the elusive snapper takes hold.

hatidua, some very nice fish! I wish I had more time to fish. My buddies went up to Jefferson Lake today and I skipped out to work overtime to fund some of my hunting trip this year.
i only read the OP, and then a handful since.
just like shotgun shooters, their version of the shooting sports is the ONLY one that matters, everyone else is a heathen. i am sure they are not all that way, but many i have run into have the attitude that if someone doesnt shoot a high end over/under, they dont deserve to be at the same shooting range.
i dont fly fish. not because i cant, but because i choose not to. just because someone doesnt participate in the sport the way you do, does not mean they are beneath you, or that they are somehow less entitled to fish those waters. i am sure there are plenty of slobs out there, but everyone has to learn somehow.
i live in the roaring fork valley where fly fishing is extremely popular, drift boats everywhere, fly shops, guide services, etc... a couple of friends of mine were big time into fly fishing, and they were normal people. BUT many fly fishermen i have run across have such an attitude that their sport is so SUPERIOR to every other form of fishing, kind of like the OP. the attitude has turned me off to fly fishing more than any other thing.
fly fishermen are not superior, only their attitude is.
