Wow. Sorry to see that this became so heated. I understand that folks are passionate, but we've got to be smart about it.
I get the feeling that there are a large number of us that understand the issue and have a number of strategies in mind...depending on the situation. We're unified in defending the principles that founded this great nation. I've discussed these openly with my wife, but you won't see them here. I try to be a good boy scout and "be prepared".
I don't think you have to be clinically diagnosed with paranoia to understand that statements here could be used in a court to make an act of self-defense into a premeditated act based on previous comments on the web.
When the time comes, only YOU will know when it's time for you to act.

The way I see it everything we all own right now will be grandfathered in IF there is a law passed, and that is a mighty big IF. There will not be a confiscation. There might be restrictions on future manufacturing and sales but I don't see that coming either due to the constitutional and economic impact among other things.
Reasons why there will not be a confiscation
1. Federal, state, and local authorities simply do not have the manpower to enforce a confiscation, even at 100% participation by all parties ordered to participate.
2. I do not believe that the majority of people who the government would prefer to use in a confiscation will participate in the confiscation. They'll refuse their orders and go home because they know confiscation is against the constitution and they'll put their own families and friends ahead of what the government wants them to do.
3. Of those who would/might participate in a confiscation many won't because everybody wants to go home in one piece on any given day. They won't participate because the risks to themselves would be so great and if there is one thing that all these people share it is a craven selfishness and a strong sense of self preservation. When was the last time a mullah committed a homicide bombing, probably never because they have useful idiots for that sort of thing, the same thing applies to the leadership in this country that would impose such a law.
4. This is an enormous country, there are 310 million people across 3.7 million square miles. Once again, not enough man power or drones and the personnel to operate drones, etc. and so forth.
