I understand the concern and worries over the online transactions. But the way I look at it, I've completed quite a few Form 4473s, so they will be kicking my door in first in my hood anyway. (I'll be gone by then, hopefully) Also, just the fact that anybody has posted in this thread means that it's likely NSA has assigned a precious metals metatag to their "file". Oh, you stopped at a coin shop with your cell phone on? And you did that how many times? It's all recorded in your digital fingerprint.
They will be going after the big holders of precious metals first. There are MANY people that routinely buy in amounts >>$10K and have to report to the IRS. Those people will get their doors kicked in first in the event of confiscation. That will give others time to hide what they have. In any event, successful confiscation is unlikely. There is just far too much out there and too few people to collect. There will be some dopes that turn it over like the CT gun registration. But that's where it will die, if it ever happens.
Great quote from this article:

So, who are the serious silver buyers here? I ask because I have about 300 pounds, yes POUNDS, of silver that I may need to be getting rid of. Where would be a good place to sell that much? I don't want to mess around with a little here, a little there.
Whoof. While i'd like to buy a little silver, $90K worth is a bit more cash than I have on hand. By "a bit", I mean it like Mel Brooks is a bit funnier than Michael Moore ...
