Seriously though, I always start at 25 just to get on paper. I've had factory sights be WAY off when sighting in and I've wasted a bunch of ammo by starting at 50 or 100.
I know about the 50/200 relationship, but as I don't really know what I'm going to do with this rifle, I figured I'd just pick a spot and go with it. A lot of this range trip will be function testing and I don't want to drive for over an hour for longer distances just to have some issue. Thanks for the links guys. FWIW, on anything that's going to run a red dot optic, I'll zero that first with a rough bore-sight, even if it's a visual look through the barrel with the action open. You'd be surprised how close you can get. Then, being as I absolute co-witness everything, I lolipop the irons to the zeroed optic and it's almost always within a click or few.Quote:
