He's sleeping on the couch next to me, which has never happened before. Last night he slept fine, next to my waterbed. All doors fully open, etc. Frac suggested this.
I've tried to use a lot of Cesar Millan's principles of establishing dominance, consistency, follow through, etc., and while not perfect, he is starting to understand I am not inconsistent in telling him no, and that I will follow through, and be consistent.
I reward him when he is being good, and ignore/correct him when he is being bad.
I am trying to find ways to relax the situation, rather than escalate it.
I feel that he respects me more, and I in turn, am understanding his behaviors better.
We're doing okay, thanks a lot in part to ya'lls help. Thanks.

On our night walk, we came around the tennis court and found these two fellas. The big one was sitting until my lil hunter started going apeshit. Then he stood up. I went, "whoa!" and tried pulling Popcorn away. She wasn't having any of that, she wanted to chase them.
In the picture on the bottom left, you can see her mid bark/howl. It's her hunting bark, an incredibly loud "barooo" coming from a 22 pound dog.

Lilly is hit or miss on making the racket. Sometimes loses her mind, sometimes just sits there and watches them intently.
I don't get it.

Our GSD goes nuts when we see deer driving through my folks golf course neighborhood. He's scanning out the windows of the truck as soon as I turn in. His bark is so loud in an enclosed space it hurts my ears.
Can't imagine him being on leash encountering wildlife. We've decided to get him snipped. Too much T running through that animal when his drive kicks in. First male dog I've had that wasn't snipped early on. He's over 2 years old and we need to dial him down.

Yeah, ours is definitely more than a handful encountering deer when taking her for a walk on property....and she's spayed since pup.

I don't worry too much about the deer, they quickly out run Reba and she gives up unless I tell her to pursue. It's the moose we encounter pretty regular when up at State Forest that concern me. They don't run away and don't back down. She doesn't like that I force her to give them a wide berth.

I?m still doing some trash busting with my 1 year old. We have encountered bedded deer a couple times while grouse hunting and he loves to chase. He?s getting better about stopping when I tell him to, but we need more work.
Yesterday, I barely hit a bird and he chased it 275 yards until it landed, snatched it up, and brought it back. He had room to run, so I let him go. I don?t want to burn a young dog when he might get confused. While I?m really impressed he made a retrieve that long, I am going to have to work on him NOT running off after hens, etc.
