I think he was saying that the front sight had already been adjusted, and was shooting 5" to the side, and if the sight had been centered, it would have been even further off. That's how my muzzle loader is.

I found that aiming at an IDPA targets left ear, you end up punching cardboard through his right ear. Hope you have better luck with S&W warranty service than I did back in the day. If you don't get the answer you like keep pushing them. I had a p99 (they use to import Walther) and had to send it back 3 times before they replaced it because after 40 rounds the guide rails were penned. They first told me "after market modifications were not covered", I then told them that I didn't know shooting the damn thing was an after market mod.

Irv... why are adjusters such a pain in the ass to communicate with. Phone tag pisses me off.. I'm getting ready to call their in house council that I know personally.
