I rode the subway in Chicago from the far North side to the loop for years and never experienced any trouble. Of course my wife was usually along for backup and since this was years ago, I'd probably not do it now.[panic]
I used to think that carrying a little Stihl chain saw with a 10-inch blade in a leather holster would perhaps keep the perps with their switchblades away from us while using the "L"........ Never had the occasion to go that route.[LOL]
Jim mentioned take a stroll through Fresno. We were just through there a couple years ago and couldn't believe the number of folks living UNDER the bridges on a main highway.
