It's a great place. Lots of inventory. Run by a great guy.
,
ive justaken it out of the box and stared at it. It'll be awhile before I can afford glass.
The safety on mine is immovable. Trying to decide if I want to remedy it or send it back to Ruger. I read online where several are sorta loose. Mines locked up in the off position.
Nothing for awhile....
A batch of subs for the pdogs.
10 rounds of .223 75 great Amax for the bolt gun for velocity confirmation. With significant mirage and some wind the Savage still put five shots in a 2.5" group at 300 yards. It's such a nice shooting gun.
Loaded up a bunch more pink Eggleston 147s for belt fed fun.
While I was doing that, my roll sizer was processing a bunch more 9x19 brass.
Over the weekend I cast, powder coated and sized a gallon of .357 caliber-158 grain round nose bullets. By weight that figures out to around 2700 bullets
Loaded up some lapua brass w/ some various charge weights of the MR-2000 powder and 178bthp. Shot like junk. We've had no good loads out of this lapua brass and are scratching our heads as to why. Our baseline rifle is SSG3k and that thing went from a 2MOA gun w/ the lapua stuff to 1/2MOA-1/4MOA w/ 45.3gr of rl15 in win brass; atomic factory 175 match stuff shot just over 1/4MOA.
Does lapua brass have to have something special done to it? Has done this with neck size and FL size and had similar behavior w/ rl15. Just weird.
Only change really is Lapua brass instead of Winchester or similar. Always use 178bthp, fgmm primers, and until yesterday's attempt with some load testing for 2000-MR, powder was rl15. But the Lapua brass has not shot well with either powder. Dunno if we got a bad lot or if something has to be done in addition to the typical prep work we use on plebeian fare brass. Have tried both neck sizing and fl sizing, loading slightly long (2.82) and SAAMI, and tried across ssg3k, tikka ctrx, and ruger rpr. All three guns shoot the other loads and factory match ammo very well, but not the Lapua.
Please send ALL your Lapua brass to me and I will do extensive testing at no cost.[Beer]
Getting ready to do another 10K on the 1050.
You are the man!!! They must have been hungry lately.
Rattle canned a silver scope black. Now it tactical as f$&!
I am gonna consolidate down to 38/357. Now i am gonna have to horse trade some brass, bullets and dies.
Loaded 298 rounds of .40 for the FRIDPA match tomorrow. I had a wanged up primer spring in my press and it was really slowing me down. RCBS sent me a new one and everything works much more smoothly now.
Trying out H-335 for some hornady 55gr jsp's. Also loaded up 30 - 75gr privi bthp's with TAC. Hitting the range once my ride gets here. Liberty range has a 100 yd indoor, might as well shoot in comfort.
Loaded 500 rounds of 38 for small game and plinking. Got 3k pieces of shiny precious in the mail yesterday that i need to start stuffing with 158gr chunks of lead. Gonna be at 4k 38 specials by the end of the weekend. Then i will start on 357's next week.
Worked up some ladders for 308 168 gr BTHP M hornadys. Gonna give this 8208 xbr a try.
Shook my head at the mess and disarray. I intend to try and clean the shithole up today, got some loading and gunsmiffin' to do. Got a new .45 Colt rifle that needs tuning and proper ammo. And a few other projects to work on getting back together.
Loaded up a 150-200 of 198gn coated bullets for my 300 Whisper. Going to try them in full auto to make sure they do not get lead inside the gas system or can.
Sorted thorough several thousand cases that came from bags where "helpful" people had dumped everything from .380 auto to .45ACP into.
Boring as sin. Not going to get this far behind ever again.*
O2
*He says, today.
Set the Giraud up for trimming 308. Working on some 308 subs. the 168's keyholed @ 100. Going to bump them from 7.8 - 8gr TG. Also doing 150 & 178's with TG.
1200 pcs LC on the 1050.
Worked on a Glock uspsa load. Needs range testing.
Spent some time casting bullets.
Made up a bunch of 198 gn spritzers for full auto 300 Whisper ammo. Subsonic mag dumps with Sierra 220s gets expensive in a hurry.
I also cast up a bunch of 350gn flat points for plinking ammo for my 416 Rigby.
Now to get them powder coated. I figure the Rigby bullets should be pink so I can hunt pink elephants.
My cast 148 Grain DEWC bullets into 38 spl cases. PC red, to match the Red Dot powder that a friend gave me.
Chamfered the 308 i had siting in bags. Also giving a try resizing 308 & 243 to 6.5C. Not sure which will work better. Thanks to jmg8550 who's been walking me through the process. I see why the LC isn't going to work. Definitely tight on the neck - chamber area.
Neck sizer, or neck turner?

Looks like it'll work. I've never used a neck turning tool.
