The problem is that I've done that job that they're trying to undercut and I know first hand that what they pay isn't worth the effort to do that job, and many of the techs are not properly trained to do what they are asking. I imagine this is the same issue as with many companies. Promise the clients the moon at half price, then hire a bunch of contractors to constantly eat a shit sandwich to produce those results for you. That's okay for 18-year old kids with no other job experience that may not have made any real money in their life. However, I know what I'm worth, and I know what other companies pay (a lot more) for the same work. First I got to the point where I understood that not everything is always going to be hunky dory, and for the most part the good times out weigh the bad. BUT, when I have to start doing things like driving all the way to Omaha (about 8 hours) through the middle of the night, getting no sleep, only to arrive right on time at an appointment that ends up being canceled because I'm not needed and getting just a trip charge ($50). I start to get upset. Doing other people's jobs for half (or less) of the pay really starts to piss me off. Every company meeting goes on and on about how excellent they want to be, but they are unwilling to pay the people who bring the excellence for that performance.
