The whole government shutdown thing brought about a situation where a D senator from MI came out as the 1st congressman to say he will not accept a salary while the government was shut down because of the ridiculousness of the situation. A reporter asked Cruz shortly after that announcement if he would do the same and basically said "no way". The GOP apparently got ahold of him and told him that he needed to do it and all of a sudden he came out touting that he was not accepting a paycheck as if he came up with the idea.
He just seems to be another one of those GOP politicans who won't have what it takes to go toe-to-camel toe with Hellary. BUT as I said I only have a small amount of background knowledge about Cruz. However the impression I get from him is that I would very much dislike him.
The only person that I think I could feel like I'm not wasting my vote on would be Rand Paul (GOP wise anyways). If the GOP puts up a a stinker then it's back to the libertarian candidate for me.
I would hold my nose and vote for him. I held my nose when I voted for Romney and I vomited a little bit in my mouth when I voted for McCain, but the last time I voted Libertarian, we got Clinton in the White House.

Still don't understand the "have to vote between the lesser of two evils" ideology. The primaries and caucuses are where your vote counts. That will decide whether we get solid representation from the GOP. If we don't, DO NOT show them support during presidential elections. The presidency is out of voter's hands anyway (Electoral college system still pissing on our faces and votes), so feel free to vote for an independent, Libertarian, or other third party member. It will help show the GOP that we want liberty-minded, true conservatives. Otherwise, they just see us voting for yet another charlatan moderate and assume that they can keep plugging away with big government, high tax, gun control supporting pseudo conservatives.
This is the same governor that directed his NJ to fly all flags at half staff in honor of Whitney Houston that OD'd on drugs?
