I'm only getting 4mbps even after restarting my modem. WTF. Like I said earlier... I knew it has been crawling lately....
was about 60mb before reboot

I would not get that one its already behind the curve with only 4 downstream channels. The ciscos that comcast is issuing now are 16x4 and will do 650. The upstreams didnt change this time but they did just add a fourth upstream channel in most areas. The older motorolas were good but if you buy a new one buy the service plan. Fort collins will be coming along soon.
BRG-35503
The BRG-35503 cable modem allows high-speed data transmission through coaxial cable, with four DS channels bonding the downstream speeds of up to 220Mbps from network to the user under bridge mode, and 10/100/1000Mbps ethernet port from the user to network.
I think my issues are on my end... Pinging various things on my network yields results such as the following:
Reply from 172.16.254.1: bytes=32 time=2ms TTL=64
Reply from 172.16.254.1: bytes=32 time=1100ms TTL=64

Oddly enough, I changed my wireless NIC drivers and started seeing 40 Mbps down yet the latent every other ping to my gateway still exists. inSSIDer shows I'm doing pretty well on the channel side of things. I think its time for a new NIC and router.... I can connect, get 1 ms response times for a good 15 seconds then it goes to shit.
Behind the curve? Most of the people in this thread are using modems from like a decade ago & prior to this thread never knew a difference. In another decade when Comcrap rolls out another 50Mbps increase they can buy another $20 modem to take advantage of those speeds. Suggesting a $100+ modem for most of the people in this thread is a waste of money.
