My humble '42 Springfield...

The '43 isn't worth showing (Boyd CMP stock).
I would be buying more but my C&R money has been going elsewhere lately.
I have one with the Boyd (CMP) stock and really don't care much for that stock.
Most people don't. I think it's fine for a shooter but feels "fat" in the hands. A lot of people reshape and refinish them. They come bone dry and need a lot of oil. I'm in the RLO camp hoping to get some nice red tones out of it someday.
My '42 has some kind of (NOS?) replacement from the early 60s (I think). It's perfect! I really wish some of these guns could talk--they'd have some great stories.
Well, looks like I'll just have to live with the "fatso" CMP stock and I might finally like it. I know that I should probably start replacing some of the Garand springs but apparently the only way of know if they are REALLY needing replacement is by seeing if everything functions as it should.[blaster]
I ran through this for both of my Garands to check everything out...

Good resource except my '42 had a problem that BP Tactical had to help diagnose. He was right on the money and a few more dollars for a trigger pin and all was well.
They also sell a handful of parts. I have two of their op rod springs setting in my gear locker just in case...

I ordered a CMP stock for my M1 maybe around 2001, I think. I ordered the walnut stock with the metal. It was the same size as the original and everything fit right in without any fiddling. I tried the Boyd stock first and I just did not like it at all. I sold it along with the REALLY, REALLY poor condition stock that was on the rifle when I bought it (it was not worth saving). The money from that paid for the CMP stock kit ($149.00) and lunch too boot. Mine is a Blue Sky, South Korea import, excellent shooter.
