This is worse than Watergate because its the FBI that was crooked in this one ... also the severity of Watergate has always been overblown.

Haven't read it myself, but from some other analysts/pundits, it may not be as big as some people think/want it to be (such as, while the dossier may have played a role in the application, it might not have actually been the trigger).

The FBI knew all of this in July 2016.

The Steele Dossier was then used by the FBI to get a FISA warrant to spy on Trump and his campaign. They also used Steele as a source. They didn't disclose any of this information to the FISA court in their application for the warrant. Again they knew the Dossier was bullshit.

The FBI renewed this warrant several times to continue their investigation. Still with the full knowledge all of this was false, likely hoping to catch Trump on something/anything.

At several times key FBI personnel including Comey and McCabe were asked about surveillance of Trump after Trump's tweet about being spied on at Trump Tower. They denied it. Under oath.

There are multiple examples of conflicts of interest. Bruce Ohr's wife worked for Fusion GPS while Ohr worked on the FISA warrant request. Peter Strzok and his mistress Lisa Page texting about the need to construct an "insurance policy." Strzok was also instrumental in clearing Clinton in 2016. Multiple text messages lost/deleted. Allegedly recovered but I don't think they've been released.

The FISA aspect of this meant, even with knowledge of the warrant, no one could disclose. Even Sessions had to stay out. Up until the Nunes memo's release, there were cries of damaging national security to keep this conspiracy secret. The media has been able to lie to people's faces about Trump and RUSSSSSIAAAANZZZZZ! knowing Trump could not defend himself without releasing classified info--something he very publicly accused Clinton of doing in the 2016 campaign.

This conspiracy has voided the credibility of the FBI or anyone at DoJ to hold the President accountable. They have been outed as political hacks who helped aid in this attempted coup with the DNC and their media. Trump could have committed multiple Logan Act violations, there is no way to continue a legitimate investigation let alone impeach, indict, convict.

Trump could be indicted for obstruction of justice for asking Comey to go easy on Flynn but now that the entire investigation is a sham, how could that possibly move forward? People are even wondering about Flynn's guilty plea.

This is a good synopsis of the events as far as I understand them. I suggest watching the video commentary by ex federal prosecutor Joe diGenovea, linked by davsel in post #26. It makes the case that FBI/DOJ that this was a criminal conspiracy, a soft coup attempt to takeover the presidency. I think the foundation for Mueller's investigation is trashed and the only way he can save his reputation is by quickly closing the Russia collusion farce. But this is a war over money and ideology and the bad actors are not going to go peacefully, Mueller included I think.

Will nothing come of this as foxtrot suggests? I agree with Bailey Guns that the exposure of corruption of the DOJ/FBI officials in collusion with the DNC/Hillary campaign is huge and demands cleaning house with prosecution of the schemers. But those conspirators in conjunction with the corrupt leftist media will continue to control the message for the vast majority of Americans who resist the complicated issues, are tired of the contention and don't care anymore because they want it all to be over.

The Democrats don't want it to be over no matter the poor optics as long as they kill Trump. They were dong fine swimming in the Ryan-McConnell swamp. The Republicans can't afford to abandon their base which increasingly belongs to Trump because the bloodletting is far from over.

This "memo" isn't a smoking gun.

It's written by a GOP rep for starters. This is a convoluted turd-pile that the average self entitled American can't even begin to follow, much less the unemployed x-box playing, SNAP trading voter.

If you wanted a smoking gun, you need to have concise, A-B scenario free of complication or dirivative bullshit. A short, one page, well- evidenced report by a non-affiliated individual, Hillary pays judge, judge orders warrant to wiretap Trump tower. THAT is literally what it takes.

What you have here are people associated with campaign a, paying for a private investigation against campaign b, later, an agency using that report for their own investigation, authorizing surveillance of a member of the opposing campaign (not of trump himself) over a trip to a foreign nation that he took.

It's not a clean gun. So you guys keep chest bumping yourselves and high fiving like other good conservatives, but read my lips: No fallout of any consequence.

Meanwhile, Liberals have cast this semi-successfully as a conspiracy to subvert the Mueller probe. So, in the mind of a liberal or many "independents" this just reinforces their belief of the sheer opposite. This gained us exactly... nothing. Zip diddly doo dah jack shit.

ETA) And as far as I can tell, this reflects badly on a select few in the FBI, individuals of no consequence. But unless you can link this directly to the DNC / hillary, it doesn't accomplish anything. And they failed at that. This is nothing less than an attempted (albeit peaceful) coup. Nothing even resembling this has ever happened in the history of the US. If you think this is just the DNC paying for a false report you obviously don't understand what's going on. Not sure which of the categories of person you mentioned you fall into...I'll leave that for you to decide.

The FBI Director and an Assistant Atty General used the Fusion GPS dossier to apply for a surveillance warrant against a US citizen. They LIED to a federal judge...4 times. "Individuals of no consequence"??? An FBI director and an Asst FBI director and one or two others at the very top...like Bruce Ohr (the number 4, I think).

I'd say the bigger problem is people who think this is no big deal.

I think it's even more than four times.

Oh...and BTW again. The media worked against Nixon and was complicit with democrats during Watergate just like they're complicit with democrats now. Are you really shocked they're not making a big deal out of this and trying to minimize the damage at every turn? I'm not. I fully expect them to continue to ignore this just like they have for the last year.
