How do you figure? It's a lower...
There are lots of people shooting 50bmg off them.
Should be pointing fingers at the upper as that's what caused it.
How do you figure? I have used that upper on 2 other lowers and never even got a jam. I would like to hear your theory on this.
The best I can tell it was caused by the buffer tube. They fit a little funky where they connect to the lower. The buffer itself is a little funky as well. It could have been either or a combination of both.
If you don't know what carrier tilt is, I don't really want to waste the time explaining it. Aluminum receivers are stressed/damaged from it, and being polymer its going to have less of a tolerance for forces it is not designed to take.
I'm very experienced with carrier tilt. That was not an issue here. I'm not saying that all PCL lowers are bad. I just posted my experience with one and I will not use them again based on this experience. Even if there was some carrier tilt, it should not break the receiver in half. I will choose to only use aluminum receivers in the future. If you want to use a polymer lower, have at it.
The folks over at PCL called me because they heard about this thread. Beth was very nice and offered to replace the lower for free. She said it should have not failed under any conditions and wants me to work with their tech guy to determine what happened. She said carrier tilt should not cause this. I would say the customer service was great and hopefully this is an isolated incident. I will let you guys know what I find out.
wow...they called you...thats pretty impressive customer service
Guess they want a good name.
I gotta say, I felt they were sincere. They don't want this to happen again and they are looking to correct any problem that may exist.
