Let me know if you figure this out. The wife and I would like to get Longmire for her parents. They don't have Internet much less Netflix.

With the ability to download stuff from Netflix, I'm sure someone (many on here) could just rip to DVD, but that is beyond my ability and I think the site frowns on discussion of such. Even if I'd offer a case of beer or DVD-Rs or something for such a service.
Come on Stu, you couldn't find this

Started watching Absentia last night. 1st episode peaked my interest.
Corrected mistitle.
Altered Carbon on Netflix was interesting. Saw episode one. Probably a good binge if you have the time.
I think Netflix offers some of their original productions with their DVD by mail side of the house.
I'm late to the party for "Godless" on Netflix. Only 3 episodes in but really enjoying it. Jeff Daniels, typically cast as good/decent sure is believeable as an evil SOB!
Ahh, thanks for the clarification. I'll wait and see if it makes it to DVD and just purchase for him. He lives too far away for me to rent each DVD one at a time.
Three eps in on "Altered Carbon" They screwed the backstory, but otherwise so far so good.
Turns out the carbon was never altered to begin with...

I'm not one to watch TV, but I did finish the whole series this weekend
Altered Carbon was awesome. Netflix should do more stuff like this and less Marvel crap.
Hasn't Altered Carbon only been out a week? I'm on my down time and can't even watch a show that fast.
I'm trying to get through the first episode of Altered Cabrón tonight, but it's tough being in Spanish.
I actually posted that before I started watching. Now it's even more funny.
Just finished watching The Cloverfield Paradox
Very cool sci-fi thriller movie, and actually connected to the first movie, unlike 10 Cloverfield Lane.
Finished watching the Punisher. The wife even watched it with me and seemed to enjoy it.
We just started Black Sails and seems good so far.
Reviewers never seem to like the Cloverfield movies. Or JJ Abrams movies in general. This one was a bit more formulaic than the other two, but still really delivered, in my opinion. Some of the scenes that help the movie overall don't help the tension or mood they are trying to set in the primary story, which hurts it a bit.
If you've seen the first Cloverfield, there are a few scenes that have a similar mood and there is a payoff at the end. If you haven't seen it, those parts seem a bit more horror film and while they still add to the dread, it won't have the same level of resonance with the viewer.
Thinking some more about it last night, it's pretty clear that it was just a script that JJ Abrams bought and tacked a few Cloverfield elements on to. The script was originally called "The God Particle"
There are 3 or 4 scenes that feature Cloverfield elements, and the rest of the film survives completely independent of them.
Sorry I thought it was garbage. Luckily it was on Netflix so I didn't have to pay to see it in a theatre.
+1 Altered Carbon
Godless +1
I struggle with Jon Bernthal. His characters just strike me as unlikable, and I can't decide if it is the character or just him. He always plays the same basic character in each film. I liked him somewhat better in Wind River (v. good movie!).
I started Punisher and got to about the 3rd or 4th episode where he has the big battle in the woods at his buddy's off grid home. They make such a huge deal about his honorable ways and respect for other servicemen, then proceeds to blow away a bunch of guys sent by the government. Because they didn't develop the characters of the hit group, it isn't clear if they are blackwater type contractors or actual servicemen following the orders of a crooked boss. I saw no obvious reason they weren't the same exact situation as the Bernthal character, misused and misled by a higher up with bad intentions. Just haven't gone back to the show to see where it goes from there. Maybe someone can help me around this sticky concept on this one.
The wife suggested watching Solomon Kane. It was OK. Maybe The Following has poisoned me on James Purefoy. He was great in that one, and that same character works for him in Altered Carbon, but he just didn't fit the Solomon character well. Worth a watch.
I hate medical shows and somehow I've been sucked into "The Resident" and now I'm addicted. It's actually a pretty decent show.
SEAL Team is well worth the watch. My only complaint is they seem to have a new mission every single episode...wish they'd let a mission play out over several episodes to increase drama and suspense for the viewer.

Started 7 Seconds last night-enjoying it so far.
