I wonder if I've seen that chugging around the skies over Parker..... That Sea Fury - I know I've seen that one! That thing moves like a bat out of hell, and it sounds like it's hardly straining, just loafing along. For years I swore it was a P-47, and people told me I was nuts, there's no known P-47's in Colorado. A very impressive example of big radial goodness.
Whats better than one P-51? Twins of course!

Sent from my PRC 117A in my Batmobile disguised as a sedan.
I worked on Wally Fisk's home in Minnesota years ago. He was working on restoring a twin mustang that he had bought from Walter soplata (think that was hi name) which would have been the only flying example in the world. He sold off a large portion of his collection not long after including the twin mustang project.. have never heard what happened to it or what state it is currently in.
sent from a soup can and some string..
Apparently there were 270 of them made, all after WWII, and used in Korea. https://www.google.com/search?safe=o...93.wj0ReLGfi3k

It's said that Hermann Goering during the early part of WWII remarked that..."If Allied planes ever bomb Berlin, you can call me Meyer."
Of course the Allies eventually made it to Berlin, escorted by P-51 Mustangs. In response to that, Goering said..."When I saw Mustangs over Berlin, I knew the jig was up."
Taking that quote, I saw it a fitting addition to this photo of American GI and Luftwaffe reenactors admiring a Mustang.

This experimental aircraft was essentially two Bf 109F airframes joined together by means of a new wing centre section and new tailplane, both of constant chord, in a manner paralleled by the F-82 Twin Mustang. In the preproduction model, the right fuselage cockpit was faired over and the pilot flew the aircraft from the left side fuselage. Additional modifications included setting the main undercarriage hinges further inboard, with associated strengthening of the fuselage and modifications to the wing forward structure. Four variants of this aircraft were proposed. One was an interceptor armed with five 30 mm (1.18 in) cannon and up to a 1,000 kg (2,200 lb) bomb load, another a fighter-bomber armed with two MK 108 cannons and up to two 2,200 lb. bombs. Both airframes were to be powered by the DB605 engine. A third and fourth were designed on paper and would be similar to the first two airframes but powered by Jumo 213 engines. Only one Bf 109Z was built, and it was never flown, having been damaged in its hangar during an Allied bombing raid in 1943. The project was permanently abandoned in 1944

WoWP...I know it's a video game blah blah blah, but that 109z hits bombers hard, and derps the hell out of em...but get it into a turning fight and your toast!
Thanks, I appreciate the kind words. No filters, I do use Adobe Lightroom though as a basis for the majority of my processing, with a few little tips I developed along the way.

I was just out in the back yard and this puppy flew over again. Never ceases to amaze me how fast it comes over, and how effortlessly. The engine's just purring, like it's barely above idle, but the plane's just hauling ass. I'd love to see it at full throttle!

Must have made a hell of a racket! Came from a group of Convair 8x10 glossies.
This is a hard-stand for testing engines while developing the B-36 bomber. Probably late 1940's.

The engine came in at @ 3800 hp. See any of todays OSHA standards being violated here?
