I'm a telescope operator on a 2.5 meter telescope. Our telescope isn't in a dome, it has a roll off enclosure, so its totally vulnerable if weather rolls in. We had this storm system just northeast of us all night and it finally got to us. The humidity spiked up very fast and the dewpoint depression got below our limit of 3degC. It was at 2.2degC and I was still waiting for the last exposure to finish so we could close and not lose that data. Luckily we closed just in time, then it dropped down to 1degC. When the humidity gets that high and the dewpoint depression below 3degC, we can get condensation on our mirror and thats not good at all, especially since they JUST cleaned the mirror about 3 weeks ago and it has to last until next July.Quote:
