Gmail UI has always been utter shit, it just keep getting worse.

It's not even the new UI, which sucks. It's now SLOW. I went to compose an email this morning and it acted like I was trying to open a large file; going from inbox to sent, it also lagged. I don't get it. I'm now using it on html basic view just so I can actually open emails, but that sucks too cus it doesn't auto-populate previously used emails. Will probably just move to Thunderbird and stop using web interface.

The one thing I would caution anyone using any sync tool is to disable Gmail's feature to automatically create calendar entries from email. I had a weird cyclic issue and Gmail sent out a bunch of calendar invites from that account to a client. Caught all kinds of hell for that one - major security complications there.

No, not anymore. That game crosses my mind every time I see a potential candidate, but it scares the hell out of me unless it’s glaringly obvious. I’ve been wrong, and it is not fun. Heck, I practice medicine for a living, and I still beat around the bush (no pun intended) if it’s not the most obvious or declared condition.
