Wake me when charges are levied, perps are walked and orange jumpsuits become the official garb of the Democratic party.
Until then it's kabuki theater.
Foxtrot, you can't compare the outcome of Watergate 40+ years down the road with a scandal that's just breaking. I guess you can but it's nothing more than your uninformed speculation since you don't yet know how deep this goes or who's involved or what consequences may or many not come of it.
Furthermore, comparing this to Watergate, in my opinion, is like comparing a trip to the corner store to sending a man to the moon. They're that far apart.
Aside from all that, I agree with Nunes...the American people deserve to know about this level of corruption at the top levels of the very agencies that are supposed to protect them from this sort of thing. And I get it...you're extremely cynical when it comes to "the system". But I have a little experience within that system, too. It's hardly your exclusive realm. I've applied for warrants in front of judges. Sometimes at their homes in the middle of the night. I've interrupted one judge during his super bowl party to get a warrant signed. Sometimes they were very attentive to what's being asked and sometimes they just assumed that I was doing my job in an honest, professional manner. Frankly, if the FBI Director approached me with a warrant application and I was a judge I would most likely assume he'd done his job. That's why these people are in the position they are. It's not like Comey or Sally Yates carried the entire case file into the court when applying for the warrants. There's only so much a judge can vet.
So, no...I don't yet know what's going to happen. But in a sense, that doesn't matter nearly as much as knowing the truth. At least once the truth is exposed there's a chance something will come of it. If it's never exposed there's no chance. I'll go with the truth. You believe whatever you want.
Let me ask you this - the Snowden leaks - did anything come of that?
I believe it played a part getting Hillarys doings exposed.
I also agree with BG, there has been an attempted coup of this administration from day 1. It's death by 1000 cuts from the left. There hasn't been a day something about Trump wasn't in the media.
The D party, both it's covert and overt operatives have been at it non-stop. The same party and justice system who have continually (Under the guise of anonymous sources) "leaked" what ever Mueller and other sources have been doing. Are now CONCERNED about national security and other things being made public?
Over the course of 33 years, 33942 FISA warrants have been applied for, exactly 12 have failed to be approved. .03 percent. This does not indicate a high level of scrutiny.
ATA: Through 2013. No reason to believe that anything has changed.
Give it a week and see what happens. I agree with the others who say "nothing". Not that something "shouldn't " be done, it should. Heads should roll. But I don't think they will.
We live in a country with a corrupt government and a corrupt judicial system - on both sides of the isle. They bash each other on the talking head shows then have cocktails together afterwards.
"Wardrobe Malfunction at Halftime Show!". Headlines like that will dominate for the next week, not this.
maybe Judges should stop assuming and do their damn jobs that there were appointed or elected to do. That's a critical breakdown in the system and there should be accountability for those that just signoff without reviewing and researching anything first to see if there is in fact credible circumstances to sign off on a warrant or not.
Boohoo a Judges Super Bowl party gets interrupted. If he doesn't want that responsibility, he shouldn't have became a Judge then.
