Efficiency in Shipping

Had a USPS package disappear again. "In transit to next blah blah blah" in Denver on December 4th, never heard from again. It was a present I had to ship overseas and now will be late.

The thing that pisses me off about Amazon is it'll tell you "it may be lost, you can request a refund now" but you actually can't. Every refund option they have requires you to ship something back. They don't have an option for "the carrier fucking lost it so I have nothing to send back" even when their system is telling you it is lost.

New York USPS sorting facilities are the worst for shipping overseas too. If you're shipping something like a laptop, it's got really high probabilities of disappearing (greater than 50/50 in our experience). People bitch about the common carriers, but nothing beats the government one for QOS. Carrier song: "It's a union life with self policing for me, a tidy life with free shit, that's not for you it's for me...".

Amazon charged a restocking fee the last time it happened too. Package clearly stolen at the NY hub, no restocking possible, but they wouldn't refund it or ship another without charging a surcharge. Unfortunately, the US Gov will never let the USPS be bankrupt and shutter.

Another thing that pisses me off as well is any time something ships via USPS (package) they leave a slip in my mailbox with some bullshit reason for not delivering. "driveway not accessible" "no safe place" blah blah blah. My mailbox is a bit down the road from the house. I've called their customer support on it before and they claim that drivers aren't obligated to deliver packages if your mailbox is more than 1/2 a mile from your house.... So ever f'n time I have to go down to the post office, wait in line for an hour and a half, to get my package "delivered" to me. Makes me want to invoice them.

If I had a choice of choosing carriers, I'd NEVER select USPS. Sadly that option for ecommerce went the way of the dodo years ago.

Most of the problems with UPS and Fedex often boil down to an issue with a individual carrier or employee. But USPS? That's systematic, unionized and government propped bullshit. Sometimes you get a good carrier (postman), but the system itself is the root cause.

Got an update last night, its spent three days going from Castle Rock to Castle Rock.

All of my Black Friday and cyber Monday orders all showed up yesterday.

My front porch looked like Santa?s sleigh took a big dump on it.

Also had a package that I ordered Saturday arrive as well. It was just sitting there after its two day journey piled in amongst all of the veteran packages that had just finished their two week tour.

Got a shipping notice for an Amazon order this morning for an item I ordered last night. So really the only thing that's happened is the label has been printed. UPS tracking says it has not been picked up yet. Hasn't been picked up and I already have a notice: "Your Package Will Be Delayed"

Well, it has snowed recently.

Pretty much correct, though it appears the Amazon guy put the pot where it would get knocked over when the door was opened, scattering dirt all over where he just swept.

A couple weeks ago I ordered a Blu-ray from BestBuy and a scope from Cabelas (shipping to Colorado Springs).

Surprised to see the Blu-ray was sent from Parker and the scope from Grand Junction.

The scope arrived the next day. The Blu-ray a week later.

Had a guy a few weeks ago say he didn't get his delivery. FedEx POD said it was delivered to his address and to someone with his name. But the signature said "C19" so he claimed he never got it.

Not sure how FedEx got his full name right if they didn't deliver it to him, but since there was no signature, I had to eat it and deliver another at no charge.

I thought many aren?t even handing it to someone. They are just dropping them off and not even knocking. The signature service is now the same as the normal.

Maybe not in all situations. Had purchased some special rice through amazon. Arrived as promised but the packaged amount didnt match the ad, 8oz bags instead of 12oz, so didnt get the promised amount of product. Sent in a question that item was wrong and should I send it back. Got an email from Amazon apologizing for the error and that they didnt want it sent back but would send the correct item. This may be because it was a food product or because it wasnt worth the cost to ship back (low value, high weight). Who knows.
